Answer:

Black Head is a disease of the digestive organs and the liver in which one of the most prominent symptoms is a deep discoloration of the head.

Treatment is unsuccessful except in the early stages of the disease.

Give the following three times a day:

  • Hyposulphite of sodium, 3 grains
  • Sulphate of iron, 1 grain
  • Sulphur, 10 grains
  • Sulphate of quinine, 1 grain.

Among the symptoms are loss of appetite, weakness, emaciation and severe diarrhoea.

The disease is caused by a micro-parasite and is contagious through the droppings coming in contact with food or water.

Sick birds should be immediately isolated and the yards and houses be disinfected with a five per cent solution of carbolic acid.
